Any idea who did this?

I took a very basic computer class a few years ago, and the instructor told us that hacking and viruses were perpetrated mainly by young white males--guys between 16 and 25 years old.

Could someone who was a member of the board have joined just to hack his way inside the site?

Wish we did....I've got somethings I've picked up in my backyard I'd like to throw at 'em.

Poops for the poop.

ohh gee golly... I've been off the forum for a long time, had too much on my plate, work and family, so hadn't been aware of this. It sucks!

But everyone is right on the mark, FGRV will return, better than it was before.

Hang in there, Michael!

You bet, we’ll be working to make it better and rebuild this community.

As you can see, I’m making some changes. Please note MY registration change. I will no longer be using “Michael”.

thanks, webguy... er, Mike... oh heck.... whatever we call you, it's still with much respect and affection! One would have to really love FGRV and computers, to go to the length you've done.

I was late in hearing about the damage. However, it looks as if the recovery is coming along. Please let us know if we can do anything, I know you have your work cut out.

I have been working to change the way the backend Admin works and make it more secure. Also I’ve been working to get the new software, security systems, and automated backup systems in place.

In addition, I have been doing a lot of research on software, security strategies, hacks and fixes.

The Moderators and other Admin have been fantastic at solving current issues and helping me with tons of recovery items. They really deserve a big hand.

Also, I want to thank all of you who have stepped up to the plate by posting and making me feel really encouraged.

You guys/gals are terriffic.

Mike,
I was curious about the progress, thanks for the update.
Personal thanks to all those involved...., administrators, moderators, spouses and other "unsung hero's".
Mike, thanks again for not only using you computer knowledge to keep FGRV afloat, but spending the hours behind the scenes to advance your education to improve the quality of the site.

Dear Hackers,

What goes around comes around. Maybe you will remember this the day it comes around to you.

Michael and all
Been busy, didn't notice until tonight. I am SOOOO Glad that i printed off Pete Drewcock's plans for putting a shower in the Oxygen. Now where did i put them?
I wish hackers had a life and that they would get on with it, instead of messing with great sites like this.
Thank you for your work Mike. I cannot begin to imagine the frustration and work you have had to do.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, and the cheque really is in the mail.

Wow, Lizbeth just commented about the hacking in her last post to myself and I had no clue! Sorry to hear about that pain, I had my computer hacked once and lost everything. I wish I could offer some assistance other than asking pesky questions that everyone seems to have such great answers for.
I would like to know if you feel that your online donation system is secure? If so I will be making one shortly.

Thanks for your hard work as well as your team mates!
