iPhone App question

When using the iPhone app (I actually have an IPod Touch) to read the forums, why does it try to switch to Safari when I follow a link within the forum? For example, someone asks a question and someone else responds with a link to a previous post on the forum. When I follow the link it suggests that I download the iPhone App (which I'm already using) and when I cancel the suggestion to install the app it switches to Safari to display the forum thread.

Do not know why but mine does the same thing on my IPhone using the app ..... I avoid clicking on internal forum links inside messages for that reason... If you find the answer please post.

The link is an internet link so it does not know you are executing it from the app. The iPhone treats it the same ss if it were in an email or a page in Safari, it does not know you have the app so the page is programmed to offer to install it. They don't talk to one another. You can just cancel and it will load the page.

BTW: it works the same on Android using either the standard browser or Google Chrome.

Yes Dave. Thanks. That does make sense.

My aging eyes have been struggling with trying to read the smaller text that appears when switching from the iPhone app to the forum links displayed in Safari. Guess I'll have to put up with it.

I get the aging eyes part. That is why I mostly use the tablet as long as I have WIFI. I use the regular computer for longer posts.
