leaky kitchen faucet

I have a 2005 16' Scamp. Has anyone replaced the guts of the kitchen faucet in order to solve a water drip? Thanks for any help.

Leaky faucet

You can probably replace the whole faucet for $10 - 15.00.

Just the same as a faucet at home. Figure out where the drip is coming from and take it apart.

Kitchen Faucet

I understand that. It appears that there is a retaining nut that holds a cartridge that includes a seal, etc. Before I reef on the retaining nut, I wanted to know if I was proceeding down the right path.

Or for free is you want to come by here and get the original cheap one I took out. It really is just as easy to replace it as fix it and assuming it is original to the camper then here is a chance to upgrade from what was the very least expensive one which was available at the time.

I got this one for just under $15 for a single tap (no hot water). Its OK but I wish I got something ever better quality as this one is also a cheap plastic one and not much better than the original.

Maybe go ahead and start taking it apart to see if you can fix it, and then have replacement as plan B.

if you're not brave enough to tackle it … hire plumber.

You might consider that trailer faucets are usually cheap plastic junk not worthy of retaining beyond their short life expectancy. For fifteen bucks you certainly get what you pay for.

Chuck,

You may need one of these, a basin wrench to get at the retaining nut underneath the sink.

I didnt.. plenty of room under the Scamp sink to reach up and undo the retaining nut. YMMV but chances are you wont need one.

Once i got into it, it was pretty straight forward. I was able to unscrew the old guts and purchased a replacement from etrailer.com. No leaks.
