Yes and if Doug were to mention the seller was a friend of his and that he was posting for him, it would mean a little more to the members or non members browsing. It brings just a little more to the referral.

and THIS leads me to question "just brings a little more to the referral"?

I (pardon my ignorance) don't see what the issue is, I posted the for sale article and the vender is NOT a commercial vendor (and I can see where moderators may not be able to varify this). From reading on here for a little while I (now) understand there seems to be a difference between a board member posting their own 'for sale' post vs a member posting for a friend (who in this case and for whatever reason seems to be 'internet SHY').

P.S. I DID mention in my original question that I had a (Canadian) friend looking to sell a 17ft. Boler.

Can someone please PM me and tell me where/why I went wrong in my post? I DON'T see the need to air this issue on our public board(s)!!

Hi Doug,

Donna answered the question as a moderator, Trailers for sale by members go in the for sale forum, trailer for sale by non members go in the referrals. A very simple distinction.

I apologize, you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say.

When it comes to referrals, there are basically 3 types of listings:
1. A trailer a member has seen somewhere on the net or side of the road etc.
2. A trailer, like in # 1 above but has been "inspected" by a member. That would indicate to me there is less risk in the quality of the trailer beyond that which can be seen in pictures. But it says nothing of the seller.
3. A trailer that a member is posting for a friend or relative. In that case both the trailer and the seller are likely well known to the member. Much less risk for the buyer and a much higher referral for the seller. When you post for a friend/relative and state such, it implies that your reputation is partially at stake too.

I'd be more comfortable buying a trailer from the 3rd example rather than the first.

Roy
