That irritating Ford ad

Recently I've been getting a Ford ad on FGRV. It runs audio when I least suspect it. I have to shut the audio down on my computer so as to not disturb people around me.
Is there a way to shut the audio off that comes from ads when I'm on the FGRV site?

I keep my audio off so I haven't had the pleasure. Is this just coming on as you browse the forum? Raz

I just keep my headphones plugged into the audio-out port, so there is no sound. When I want to hear something I can unplug the headphones or put them on my head.

Is it Ford that irritates you or the ad?

Pretty much when I open the forum, depending what ad it there. I've only noticed the Ford ad running audio. I like my audio on so I get audio signals when email is sent or arrives etc. but I don't want that Ford ad interrupting my peace.

It's the audio. I care not about Ford and I can ignore the ad, as long as it isn't shouting at me and everyone near me.

What are these "ads" of which you speak?

It's google tracking your history. At sometime you must have been looking at fords.
Anyways, one the top right corner of the ad there is a ad choice arrow.
Click on the arrow and follow the instructions to block the ads.
Good luck.

I never hear any audio ads or see any either. It's either because I'm always logged in or because I'm using the old default skin. Whatever... I like it my way!

I use firefox... A nifty little program called Adblock Plus will end those annoying ad videos. I believe that program can be used with other browsers.

I see a LOT of ads if I come onboard without logging in. Since I have the site 'remember' me, it rarely happens. Not sure if there was audio, though. Glenn, are you logged into the site when that happens?

....OK <<scratching head>> I just tried an experiment. I logged off from FGRV, and then went to the Ford site and looked at trucks and suvs. Then I came back to FGRV without logging in and went to the General Chat forum. The Ford ad popped up in the right corner, but no sound. Not sure why Glenn has audio playing...

I never log off. And, I'm guessing that the reason the audio is so loud is that the Old Bag keeps saying I'm not listening.
Who knows why the Ford ad is targeting me. I'm not in the market for any vehicle.

Adblock Plus is available for Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Android. It's open-source and seems to work very well. I mostly use Chrome, nice to log in on another computer and have all my settings and bookmarks right there. Only thing I use Firefox for is watching stuff on Hulu, locks up on Chrome a lot.

On my tablet, Firefox is lightning fast, far better than Opera Mini or the stock Android browser.

I really loathe video or audio ads that play on their own. Best way to get me to NOT buy your product is to jam it in my face with shockingly loud audio.

Another vote for Adblock Plus, I have been running it for a few years on all browsers, and it effectively gets rid of these ads.
