Hello everyone,
We did it again! Now we camped at Leo Carillo, which is a much bigger and in many respects nicer PCH camping spot than Point Mugu, just a few miles south. Lots of large Sycamore trees here. All sites are well isolated and private, especially on the outer perimeter. Approximately third of the sites have hook ups. Beware of ground squirrels! They will wreak havoc on your table if you leave food out.
This campground has a very nice little store with all the necessities for camping and COFFEE (and BEER!), so if you missed something - you can just get it here and no crazy mark-ups! Like we ran out of sunscreen - no problemo!
There are 2 beaches, one is your regular stretch of Malibu coastline - North Beach. Second is South Beach - very cool rocky beach with many tide pools - kids loved wading there and ogling at all the little critters. It's not as nice for swimming and playing in the waves as it doesn't really have a sandy access to water, but that's when you go to the North Beach. But there is plenty of sand to spread your towels and have a game of Frisbee.
A few people were surf-fishing and one guy caught two skate fish right in front of us.
All in all it was a great weekend and we will be coming back for sure.
