My daughter & grandson were over for a visit. Took a jaunt up to 9,000' to get some cool weather. Took our old tent as well as the Scamp. Nice and cool weather and some rain and thunder/lightning as well. Found a nice site for tent and two vehicles and the Scamp. Many hummingbirds which was a treat to watch. Grandson (12 months), his mom and grandmother slept first night in tent but he was up very early with all the light next morning. Next night papa and grammy stayed in the tent, all went well. But during the day Thursday, a two hour rain, thunder storm with some pea sized hail got the tent a little wet inside and out; even some bedding as well. And heard it might rain again at night, therefore, Papa made a bed in the back of the pickup. No rain, but I slept pretty well. Sure would have been nice if I had taken a single air mattress along. More rain in the forecast, so we came home early one day.

There was a Casita there as well. Met the owner, a very nice man from Midland, TX by the name of Todd Rhodes. Got to step into his 2003 Casita, first Casita I have seen up close. Nice unit, similar as our Scamp (side dinette) but of course a foot longer.

We didn't get to do much exploring with the rain and also being on a 12 month olds schedule. But enjoyed it.

The leak from TV antenna over the bed did not make us happy campers, but I will be seeing what I can do to stop that from happening again. I had this to happen two years ago in North Dakota and had it stopped. Need to see if I can figure a solution.

Oh, yes, the camp host told me the Rangers might not like us having feeders out in some areas, not locally, bears had come into campgrounds to the feeders. He was not enforcing the rule however. It did make us think about using them. I'd take them down at night and when not at camp in the daytime as well after hearing about the bears like them, which isn't surprising. A woodpecker came to ours and try to get to the opening, but could not. It came with me not 3 feet from the feeder as well. Neat seeing one so close.
