They probably had a reservation on file for "your" site with someone else for the extra day you're looking for.
I use the KOA system, and I don't remember if you can request a specific site for an advance reservation, but they may have repeat customers who know that park and only want certain specific sites...
I didn't ask for the same site, just for an extra night.

Btw, their wifi is also very unreliable. I did spend 2 hrs to get 18 photo files uploaded, eventually. :-(

Mike, I spoke with a lady at the desk.

We 've been directed to the most remote (from conveniences) site, with direct access to hwy 140
KOA Kampground Mariposa is not a welcoming experience :-(

Hi Lex
I have stayed at a few KOAs. Never again. I find them to be a poor place to deal with. I hope others have had better experiance.

We did suggest that you go to Yosemite, but we really didn't want you to climb El Capitan.

I'll bet Rita was shaking when she took those pictures of you on the mountain, huh? ;-)

Lex & Rita,

Your photos and log are a delight.

Excepting the U.S. "south", Joyce and I, long ago, visited almost every place that you have photographed. It's great to be able to "re-visit" them through your pictures and story, knowing that we'll never have the opportunity to return to most.

Nice capsule tours of L.A. and "The City", as many San Franciscans refer to it! You certainly saw the high points of each within such a tight time frame.

Thank you, thank you!

B.t.w., your web site downloads in a flash. Faster than most anything else that I go to. Is it based in Europe? And one day, when and if you ever get a leisure day, tell us about your camera(s).

Hi George,
My hoster is http://www.lonex.com . It is cheap and their service is very good.
The website is without any extras, it is just plain html. Except for a javascript to pop and slide the photos.
The thumbnails take most of the load time. That is why I put normal about 120 thumbnails per page.

The main camera I use is a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ20, already an oldie now ;-)
I like the zoom. It takes films of 320x240 pixels.
My "pocket camera" is a Canon Powershot A570. I like its extended capabilities for such a cheap and handy camera. It takes films 640x480 pixels.
To make a panorama I use the Stitch-function of an old program called PhotoStudio, which I got with my first digital camera in 1997.

Sounds like you did well with your visit to San Francisco, Lex. Hope you enjoy the Mendocino area and the Oregon Coast.

[b]Man, that's one sweet Boler!

Be careful with your fireworks tonight, L&R. I envy you traveling up the northern California coast. The "marine layer" is normal, but the scenery is going to be fantastic now. Wait'll you get the Redwoods---can't wait for your reactions----and photos. Thanks!
