After storm, how is Huntington Beach SP?

We have reservations in early Oct. for Huntington Beach SP in SC. I know it has reopened now and didn't sustain too much damage. I'm wondering about the beach and ocean water. We normally spend time in the ocean, and right now since all the flooding in NC, wouldn't consider going to the beach in NC (hog waste, chicken waste, coal ash, other chemical pollution...) If anyone there now could post observations and comments, we would appreciate hearing how it is.

Don't know about storm damage, but still can't access it on Reserve America, can't even type it in, it won't come up.

You also have to worry about getting there.. many roads are still closed, some river(s) have not even crested as of 22 Sept. Many areas between here and there have been devastated and may not have services as you might expect. It looks like toxic coal ash is washing toward the ocean, on and on...

We will not be there until Nov 29-Dec 6 before we head briefly to Jekyll.



They did open a new expanded Section south of the historical area.

Gail as far as I know things should be good . We will be there Oct 6 site 91
moving to 132 Loop 4 7-10. We are coming rom HH SC and thankfully did not get wind or rain just a scare. we have a 77 Trillium. come see us.

Update: we have cancelled our week at Huntington. We couldn't be confident that the ocean wouldn't be compromised. Dennis, we certainly would have checked on you and your Trillium if we were there. We still have our 75 Trillium, although we now use our Escape 17B. Hope you have a good time.

I just talked to a receptionist at Myrtle Beach State Park, who stated that the park was fine with no damage due to Florence.

Hello, I live in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. From both the TV news and from my son who lives and travels to coastal South Carolina weekly the real damage was confined to the greater Wilmington, North Carolina area. There was little actual wind damage but the flooding was real bad in North Carolina near the coast. My Smoky Mountain area got little to no rain and zero wind.
Temperatures have been averaging about 10 degrees above normal throughout the Carolinas with no real cool fall weather in the extended forecast.

In short “ come on down “ .
Just stay clear of the Wilmington North Carolina area as flood waters have been slow to recede.
