Bad News
These teens this last weekend had an odd way of "camping": it involved sleeping til 4 pm (we could tell they were awake when the music started) then sitting around - quietly - til well past midnight.
I do not know what liquids or solids they had, there seemed to be no food and not a lot of liquor, but whatever it was, it kept them up till dawn. At this point, they would do "do-nuts" in their SUVs around the extremely tiny roadway. Hmm.
Saturday night - actually Sunday dawn - hubby heard them drag away the firewood from us and the only other family at the site. Mind you, this is not a campground, it is just a place where people camp. No officials to report to, but with us over here, and one young family over there, and a large group of teens over there, and only two of us have had our (freely available!) wood taken in the night, the investigation was swift.
So young mom across the way marches the five yards to their site Sunday morning and gives them a piece of her mind. They swear at her.
They leave Sunday aft, leaving behind some beer cans, and dozens of iced-tea cans: Brisk. Too odd.
Good news
Weather was perfect: dry when setting up, dry when packing up, a bit of drizzle at night under the tarp with the fire going, partly cloudy when canoeing/kayaking/crab fishing.
Best part: 14-year-old son exclaiming on an island beach that hotdogs cooked on a stick and slightly burnt beans straight out of the can with apples for dessert are "the best lunch ever!"
Happy camping!
