Although I live in Montana, a beautiful state, I think Utah is my favorite for outdoor beauty. I think you probably know this. Therefore, just about any place in central and eastern Utah is a treat. If you are by Arches N.P. make sure you take the drive down to Moab from the NE following the Colorado River. This is quite an introduction into red rock country. Heck, just visit all the N.P.s you can find and you'll do great!

Several years back we had a wonderful trip with the family. From B.C. we traveled down the Oregon coast and the coast of California. With the kids we did, Disneyland , Knotts Berry farm and Universal Studio's, made our way to the Grand Canyon and also visited Bryce and Zion National Parks and there are a variety of others in the area which, as I understand it, the Grand Staircase, We made our way to Salt Lake City and traveled up through Utah to Jackson,Wyoming Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Bozeman Montana, and then to Spokane , and up into the Kootenay's of B.C. a grand circle tour.
