Burnett Island State Park, WI

Last weekend we got away for the first camping trip of the year. This was our first time at this State Park, and we enjoyed it. The campground has many sites right on the Chippewa River, but that part wasn't open when we were there. Nice hiking trails, playground, picnic areas, and beach. For our first time out we did really well: nothing forgotten and no glitches.

Looks nice with the FirstUp out front. We put a string of cheap LED lights on each guide rope, too, so that we can them and don't trip over them. We also put a tent stake through the bottom of one side of the front zipper opening so that it stays put and makes it easier to zip.

Have fun! Here is a picture of our setup at the Fall Gathering on the Mississippi south of LaCrosse, WI, in 2010.

For our first trip out, we were out at Mauthe Lake State Park, WI - Apr. 19th-22nd.
It poured rain the first night, near freezing the next night, and only about a high of 45 the day after ... but we were snug as a bug in our Scamp. We also had the First-up out with the wind shades on and a portable heater. (Sure am glad I decided on the wind shades at the last moment.)

Our next outing, I'm hoping for better weather, we have plans to be at Peninsula State Park, WI (Door County). We might break out the bug screens.

We have the outside wind curtain that goes with the FirstUp, but we have never used it, because it does not work with propping it against the door. Instead, we have roll-down curtains that we tie to the FirstUp frame. We use them for wind, rain, sun, and privacy when we need them.

Nice-looking setup.
