Camano Island State Park WA

We had a last minute request from our son to take him and his three year old with us camping last weekend somewhere near Seattle. A search for reservation spots did not yield anything. We discovered Camano Island State Park near Marysville WA had "first come first served" campsites. Maria and I went there on Thursday afternoon and found there were spots available and picked a beautiful large site (#72) in the upper loop. Son and grandson arrived on Friday evening.

What a great spot! The woods around here are full of interesting things to see, and the island has plenty of scenery. I've posted a few more pictures here:

Brian,

Thanks for the information on Camano Is. SP. When I came through WA a few years ago I had such a great difficulty trying to find a campsite with out having had reservations. I finally ended up in the parking lot of a casino.

Nice to know there are still first come first served campgrounds around. I like them because mid week you can generally find a spot. I hate my trips being time constrained by reservations.

We're no reservation people except for National parks.

On our trip to PEI we had to call four parks before finding a spot near Moncton, NB . There were a lot more RVs on the road in Canada where gas was about $5 a gallon but the economy is much better; in Maine RVs were few and far between.
