Campground review sites

Can anyone recommend a relatively reliable and wide ranging campgound review site?

RV Park Reviews is the one I often use for US parks. I have a list of many different sites on my RV Information page. Some are useful in that they include photographs of each site at a park...

[QUOTE=Cam A;358724] reliable and wide ranging campgound QUOTE]

In addition to what has been mentioned,
Woodalls (same as Trailer life!)
AAA campground guide
As well as many others, which aren't coming to mind. Sorry!

Unfortunately, none are completely "reliable" and all based on opinions! Either by individual campers or an employee of a company that sends individuals to rate and compare campgrounds (with a $ potential profit to their rating)

Keep in mind, we all don't agree on what is a nice campground. But if you learn to look at what meets your needs and use it as a guide, knowing that there will be hit and misses........ One campers perfect campground isn't everybodys perfect campground. You should be able to at least get a idea of potential campgrounds and what they have to offer that you may be looking for.

We found 3 problems with the Good Sam guide 1) We stopped at resorts listed in the book ,asked for the Good Sam discount when paying and were told they (Campgrounds) dropped out of Good Sam and there is no discount 2) Good Sam promises a 10 % discount at member campgrounds but we have received discounts ranging from 0% to 10 % .3) The description of the park in the guide does not match the actual park . We use the guide when traveling to find parks at the end of the days travel and just want a place to sleep

While I loved the AAA Campground Guides, unfortunately, they are gone. AAA has replaced them with regional versions of Woodalls. The problem is the Woodall guides don't usually give campground addresses; instead they give directions from the nearest interstate. Since I prefer the "Red Roads" the directions are not all that useful. Without an address, you cannot enter the campground in a GPS. They have also left out many of the state & community campgrounds that were in the older AAA books. Finally, the organization of the AAA books worked well - there are so many ads in the Woodall books that finding a campground (unless it is advertised) is difficult.

Our mode of driving leaves us to making campground reservations while on the road and we start looking in the book for the campground about 1 hour B 4 we want to stop for the day. That way, we R never in a rush to get to a particular overnight spot.

As Steve Dunham has pointed out, no system is perfect that is why we always call the campground B 4 making a reservation and confirm the Good Sam discount then.

We also like KOA and just like Good Sam, you must join KOA to get the discount.

I actually don't mind the regional books, but agree the old way was better.

The problem with Woodalls, is exactly as you said. Based on Ads! So are the rateings......... Trailer life is the same................
Woodalls is better for back east, Trailer Life is better for the western half of the US.

Again, none is perfect! Find which works best for you, and know it's flaws! I actually use a couple of different ones, Trailer life and Big Rig's best bets from when we had our Class A and owned the rv park. But I don't live by anyone one particular.

If you use Google and use the terms TripAdviser and the campground name or the state you are going to and the term campground you may find real user reviews as well as some photos. More and more campground reviews are starting to show up on TripAdviser.

The review of the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, CA Lodgepole Campground is a good example of what you will find on TripAdviser.
