Reserved with the maine gov't a spot at the aroostook state park. First thing. We are used to camping in NY state campground, Maine has a different ruler on their sites. They are small. We reserved a medium site and when we got there and told the ranger that our son would be joining us he recommended we move to a larger site. We only have two three-man tents. It was a good suggestion. The campground itself is small. Only 30 sites. There are free showers, unlimited water . There is also a kitchen shelter with hot and cold running water to wash dishes. In the kitchen shelter is a wood stove, perfect to heating either yourselves or food, if it is raining. The trails are well marked and easy to follow and nice. The lake is not very big, easy afternoon paddle. There is an outfitter in town who will set you up with kayaks to paddle the aroostook river. Town is 5miles away. The kitchen shelter also has
electrical outlets to regenerate the electroic gear. The staff are helpful. the place is impeccably clean. Nice camping.
