Mt Pisgah campground recently opened on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Walk up only so get there quick. No hookups.

If you need hookups, Maggie Valley is full of campgrounds that will have a lot of space. Stonebridge is very nice. Waynesville is a nearby town that has a vibrant downtown, with restaurants, brew pubs, etc.

(I live in Waynesville).

Hmm, looks like Mt Pisgah campground hasn't opened for the season yet. Not sure on that one this weekend. Kind of looks like it opens tomorrow.

Camping near Ashville NC

We were unable to find a State or National Park that was open in the area early this year. We stayed at https://www.mamagerties.com. It was very nice, but definitely not like a State Parks in NC, which are great.

We've stayed at Lake Powhatan Campground, it's close to Asheville and right next to the NC arboretum. They have some full hook ups, a few electric only and most sites with neither. And you can use a geezer pass if you have one.

Reservations are a must at Lake Pawhatan, particularly if you need a hook up and you want a weekend. I wanted to stay there for a couple of days to test out my rebuild on the Trillium. Hasn't worked out so far.

We stayed at KOA East near Asheville, 2015. Commercial camp, but very nice.

Davidson River campground is a wonderful campground near Brevard, NC, in a National Park. Not all the sites have electricity, and they're often filled to capacity in the summer. It's best to reserve months ahead. Another campground near Asheville is Mama Gertie's campground (most sites are full hookups). It's privately owned, and it's beautiful. There are several campsites at the very top of their hill that offer amazing views. A third campground near Asheville is Ash Grove, another privately owned campground. It's absolutely beautiful and has a few walking paths nearby. I think they have full hookups.
