We just spent a day and night at City of Rocks SP. What a cool place. Of you are crossing NM on I10 it's just 30 miles of Deming.

It looks similar to Vedauwoo in Wyoming.

We visited Big Bend and made the trip up to Carlsbad in February. I enjoyed your pictures and narrative of both places. The trips into and out of BB are quite long and desolate. We felt part of BB's appeal was that no one was there by accident.
After leaving Carlsbad we stayed at Rockhound SP on our way west and found it to be more than expected.

Here's a picture of Mary playing her concertina in front of our '78 Trillium 1300 at City of Rocks SP a few winters ago. We were tucked tightly in the rocks to get out of very high winds...all day and night! But, a very lovely park, all in all.
