To be clear, a few days before heading south I got ready to meet my coffee friends and checked the temp. It was 4 degrees F and I thought, "it looks pretty nice, I wonder if I need a jacket". I love winter but I also like to play golf and visit friends and relatives. 😀

We do the same, except for the turn to the ocean. This year, we are just north of New Orleans.

I cam empathize with you . We went South for several years .
Half the time is was so hot and humid that we wished we had stayed home. The other half of the time the weather was nicer back here in Northern Wisconsin then it was in Northern Florida.
In either case it wasn't worth the drive of 1800 miles
We started to go to Southern Illinois and Southern Iowa where daytime temps were in the 60's and 70's and nighttime temps were perfect for a campfire and sleeping.
Another added benefit was that campsites cost 50% less

Hope you enjoy your trip !!
