Fireworks-free camping in Washington or BC?
Any ideas where we can go for the 4th to avoid fireworks? Within about a 3-4 hour drive from South Whidbey? With no prior reservations?

Rainer National Park comes to mind.
Olympic National Park is also good, either Heart of Hills or The Hoh.
There's also many campgrounds in the Olympic National Forest.
Shouldn't be too difficult.

If you come up to BC there will be fireworks on the 1st of July but not after.

Don't come to Tacoma, WA 'cuz the community fireworks has been cancelled, so we will stay home on firewatch, since all the nice kids will now be allowed to shoot off their fireworks next door, next blocks, etc. with no regulation......nosiree, we are not going to get much sleep this year.

The problem isn't where they aren't legal, it is where they actually don't get set off. BC is a possibility, or maybe the Olympics somewhere. Unfortunately I can't avoid the whole ten days or so they are semi-legal but maybe can get away for the 3rd and 4th and save the dogs from the noise.

There will be no fireworks on the moon........ but the fuel bill would be a killer.

While more expensive as a rule I'm guessing a private CG won't tolerate the risk and a quick phone call would confirm and allow a reservation if they have openings.
Know they are "not allowed" in Mich. State Parks but know they do get fired off. So for us it's either total boondock in National Forest with no one for miles or stay home and avoid the traffic (our typical game plan)

It ends up being better to stay home if there are fireworks at the campground, even at a distance. Last year some idiot set off some firecrackers just as my most sensitive dog entered the trailer, and now she is afraid of the trailer. At home, she will just go under the bed and stay there. The Thundershirt helps but not enough. I'm thinking about Canada. Mexico is a bit far away. They'll start well before the weekend before the 4th so I can get an idea how bad they are going to be. I think when I rebuild my house it will have a sound-proof room for dogs to hide in during fireworks!

Agree, find a private campground that has a no tolerence policy for fireworks. I never allowed them! And camper's knew better than even try! They are one of those things that I hate! Guess years of living in fire country. Of course I love professional firework displays.
