First trip of the season
After an endless winter of gazing longingly out the window at my snowbound Scamp, we have our first reservations of the season. We'll be at the Wild Duck Campground in Scarborough, Maine, a short drive from Old Orchard Beach. Very excited to be back on the road. Where are you starting your season?

My camping season for this year actually started on December 27 last year with a 3 week stay at Death Valley. After that is was on to other places in AZ, and NV. After 3 months back home. A little work around the house and we'll be off the first of June to South East Washington for almost a week. There I'll be teaching a carving class and performing with my dulcimer. After that we'll be going to Central Oregon, Pine Mountain about 10 days for ham radio playing and geocaching party.
Second week end of July we'll be joining another couple for a trip to the California Red Woods. At the moment we're planning on heading for Mt Lassen next sans the other couple.
August you'll find us at Glacier NP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Craters of the Moon NM.
September we'll probably be someplace, maybe Utah. Then after Christmas it's back south and probably TX, LA, maybe further along the gulf coast.
The season has no beginning and no ending.

Our first endeavor was Lake Keystone State Park near Sand Springs, OK.
Pretty nice park. Was windy so not too hot. Left because the cold front
was barreling our way...........lol.
I've got maybe five major adventures plotted out.

An example of one of the shorter ones.............I don't like getting lost........lol. I list every town enroute, every Walmart for backup parking, and known ethynol-free gas stations.
As an old truck driver.......habits are hard to break.

We were camping January 1, actually started last Thanksgiving day and got back home March 4. That probably doesn't count because of it being a snowbird trip, so the first trip that started this year was to Fairhaven State Park on the US side of Lake Ontario, 4 days. Next trip is in June to Fish Creek Pond in the Adirondaks, but that's with our teardrop, then also in June, Rocky Neck State Park in CT, which trailer undetermined at this time, July will be a vintage trailer rally at a KOA in VT with the teardrop, in August we will do a few days in the White Mts of NH, probably the teardrop again. September we may do a Tin Can Tourist rally if we can get in, waiting for an opening, but that will be the teardrop. Probably fit in a few other trips somewhere, then back south with the Uhaul in November.

My nursemaid says whenever I am ready to go camping we will go but with my limited capacity (broken fibula and tibia) and his bedside manner I would probably end up doing something very bad with a crutch.

Now I know when everyone will not be home!!!
How does everyone handle grass cutting, mail, newspapers, or routine bills? Seems like anything over a week and I get behind!!

CPAHarley,
Grass Cutting. we hire pay a neighbor to cut the grass if away in summer.
Mail. 30 day trips mail held by PO. Long trips PO forwards to Escapee Mail Service.
Newspapers. Don't get any. Read them on line when home or away.
Routine Bills. Paid on line via Bank of America once a month.
The electronics age makes all things possible.
First trip of season to Nfld Rally leaving May 15th and six weeks of Nfld exploration.

Grass cutting -- cut just before I leave and then not worry. No watering a couple weeks before leaving.
Mail -- If 30 days or less have them hold the mail. This can be done via USPS web site. Over 30 days I do a temporary forwarding to my daughter. I have her send what ever she's collected to the closest town to General Delivery. We get very little of any importance in the mail.
Newspaper -- Stop all newspapers. Or like us we don't get any.
Routine Bills -- All our bills are auto draw except for two which had be handles via the internet.
The only hitch is USPS which doesn't always forward everything. Two months on magazines, if they think it junk mail the dispose of it and return anything that looks like credit cards. This can all be handled with a small bit of fuss and bother.

Back to Champoeg this coming weekend with all my spinning, knitting and camping friends. Will be my second trip of the year(does it count if it is to the same place as the first trip?) but will be a shake down trip close to home for my friends. Looks like we may luck out with pretty weather too.

Well, I've tried, but I can't seem to leave the back yard. Great weather forecast for the next week, but when it comes to campsites, I can't think of one that is more private, convenient and cheaper than this.
Only catch is I have to mow the lawn.

I admit, we spent a couple of hours sitting in the Scamp in the backyard, just to remember what it felt like.
