We may have a chance to head north. I am wondering how crowded the gaspe peninsula camp grounds get. Is it reasonable to just show up? Thanks for any ideas.

We did that trip 3 years ago without reservations and had no problems, had a lot of rain showers during the day but tempertures were nice. We usually call ahead a day or so to a place we might be interested in but by and large making reservations for a whole trip limit your being able to be flexible.

Thanks Bill, If we go it'll be spur of the moment. The first time we went to Newfoundland the campgrounds were full everywhere. We had made reservations that time and were amazed at how necessary they were. We are happy to try our luck and be spontaneous.

Here we are at Perce at the tip of the gaspe peninsula, with Perce rock in the background. Had a great trip. The people were very friendly and tolerant of our lack of French speaking skills. The camping is a different style than we're used to. Kinda crowded, but still fun. The weather was great, and so were the lobsters.

Next year we hope to do the north shore of the St Lawrence. Quebec is huge with many interesting areas we'd like to see. We were surprised at how many fiberglass units we saw. There is a very nice truck bed unit. All fiberglass, rear door, nothing else. Very plain and waiting for customization. We saw them everywhere, but never got a name.
