heading North in early May

Tess and I are going to Newfoundland in early May. We usually camp in public places like state and National parks and in USFS campgrounds. I don't expect to find much open as we move North at that time of year. Even commercial campgrounds are not likely open. I know wallmarts and truckstops are options. We mostly need one night stands. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

There are a couple of Provincial Parks in Newfoundland that stay open for camping year round. I also know that about half the Provincial Parks in Nova Scotia are open for camping by mid may.

Be warned Victoria Day, also known as the May Long Weekend, is a Canadian holiday. The holiday this year is on monday May 18th. Its a week-end where any Canadian with a tent or RV head out for the first camping trip of the year (or at least for those in the East it often is - those in the west have usually been out for months). So you may want to make sure you have reservations for that week-end.
