IPhone App for Camping

Does anyone have any experience with the AllStays App (Camping & RV Tent camping to RV parks) by Allstays LLC? we were looking at apps and saw this one.

<Sarcasm> it $9.99 so its got to be good...right? </Sarcasm>..

Thanks ,

Rogue

AllStays is a perfect app. But there are MANY free alternatives for android :-)

Get It

We use and like the Allstays Military Camp Grounds and the Allstays Walmart ONP (Over Night Parking). Both are indispensable. Not only are the Walmarts shown on a map, but they have reviews that are helpful. I believe the Walmart app was $2.99? I believe the $9.99 Allstays app includes all of them. Well worth it if you ask me.

What did we do before all these apps. I know the same thing I'm doing now.

I use both Allstays Camp & RV, and when I'm only looking for non commercial campgrounds, The Ultimate Campground Project. While Allstays has some non commercial campgrounds, The Ultimate Campground Project includes many that are not in AllStays.

I downloaded Allstays (when it was free, some years back) and have used it. Another one I have is CampWhere, which was also free. Both are helpful.

I use all of the Allstays apps and, I too, got them when they were free. My only problem with Allstays is when you select a campground by tapping it on the map, you can look at "images." The images, however, may be photos of local attractions, a bunch of people at a potluck or a bonfire, or campsites from other locations. When I look at images, I want to see what the campsites are like. I really don't care about past campground activities or local attractions, which can be better researched in places other than a campground app.

I have the Android version. I doubt it is different than the ios. It stores a lot of data allowing for off line use. Not needing an internet connection is a big benefit and pays for the cost of the app.

I like Allstays. Works for us when on the road and need a place to stay. Paid for itself on the first night of camping, now its saving us money every year. Its of less use for our preferred National Park campgrounds, but great on the the way to/from them. Its pretty easy to determine if the campground is a quick, convenient overnight or a place you might want to linger. I do leave reviews in the app for campgrounds I stay in. Some small town campgrounds across the great plains can be a bit tired, but safe. Allstays helps us make the choice. One downside is you need cell coverage to use all the features of the app, something not always available on our preferred blue highways.

I have them all, but I use Allstays the most. I usually look to see if there are any photos on https://www.campsitephotos.com but that is hit and miss. It is crowdsourced so that means that those of us who want to see pictures should be submitting them.

Perhaps there are different versions?? I can find campgrounds, Walmarts, etc. and read the basic description with no connection. I do need internet to read the reviews.

Sure enough Raz. I amended my post. Some features are indeed available without connectivity.

Thanks, john

All stays app is the best

It’s worth every penny. I use it exclusively for planning and finding places to stay at the last minute.

I have not been impressed with the campground searches on my Garmin Nuvi. More than half the time the result is a run down trailer park, and many non commercial campgrounds are not included.
