Lava Beds National Monument campout

We just spent three days at the Lava Beds in Modoc. It was great!!! We stayed at the Hawks Nest campground right outside of the park. It's the only campground with hook up that's close to the park entrance. Hawk's nest had hook-ups, huge sites and the owners are too sweet.

Thanks for the info on Hawks Nest. I'm headed to Lava Beds prior to the Burney Falls Gathering in September. You never know hookups might be necessary.

No problem, Joy! I hope you have a safe trip. We were happy with the campground location after taking the unmaintained road down into the monument the first time around. It's about 15 miles of potholes. Anyhow, the owners are very sweet and the sites are huge, clean, and quiet. We were also allowed a fire which is not allowed in other campgrounds around that area. You must see Glass Mtn. if you haven't been there before......AMAZING!!!
