McCarthy Beach in Northern MN

My daughter, grandson, and my little "Butch Dog" spent a wonderful night at McCarthy State Park. This was a test to see now my new little pooch would do at camping, he had fun, but now that we're home, all he's done is sleep. The weather was perfect, and very few bugs.

One of the BEST beach's in Minnesota. No rocks and all sand bottom beach. Been there many times. Great campground also.

Looks like it might be a good lake to put my kayak into. Very glad to hear that the bugs aren't bad! I hop to head that way in about 2 weeks.

I was there a long long time ago, and I recall you could walk out into the water 100 feet or more and it was only 4-5 feet deep. It was a nice sandy bottom, and no weeds either. I recall we also saw a bear wondering thru the campground opening coolers on this trip as well.

My wife and I also went camping there in March, and we had the place to ourselves. We watched a lunar eclipse rise over a frozen lake.

It is a wonderful Minnesota state park!
