Planning on going to the Mesa Verde area to camp next spring or early summer. Although I've looked into several campgrounds on the internet I was wondering if any of you had recomendations for a good place to stay. I'm planning a family gathering with my two sisters, their families and my mom and her husband so a place with optional cabins would be nice.

Thanks!

Hi Candi,

My wife and I were at Mesa Verde in Mid May this year..

There is a GREAT campground right in the park, run by the National Park Service, with full hookups available.

But BEST to go to the National Parks Web site and make reversations early..

When we were there, it was already about 1/2 full, but still very nice.

Great place to visit, and be sure to go to all the visitor sites that the Park has to offer, most were great, (and take good hicking boots) !

Good Trip...........

Dick,
Do they allow pets and is there a cabin/ lodge within the same campground area? I have to find a place that accomodates both.

Thanks for the reply,
Candi

Candi,

There is a Lodge in the Park, run as a private operation, best bet is to visit the National Parks web-site and see about name and contact info..

As to dogs, I believe you can, but for sure must be on a leash.

I did not see any Cabins, but we were not looking.

Good Luck

Hi,

When we arrived in early Spring '04, campgrounds within Mesa Verde were not yet open.

We were very pleased to find A & A RV Park - Campground, right at the entrance to Mesa Verde. The view was spectacular; the staff were friendly and efficient; the pool was heated and open and the washrooms were the cleanest we have ever encountered.

It was a bonus to leave L'EGGO on the level and tour the park by car only.

Check it out at www.mesaverdecamping.com

We just returned from a trip that involved two nights and three days at Mesa Verde. We showed up on Tuesday and wanted a camp spot. They have 10 available full hook ups for $28.67 and no hook ups for $23.86. We were lucky and got the last full hook up. They said that to get it for the second day we needed to call the 800 number as several were already booked and the phone registrations always are ahead of on the spot registerations. So we called from the payphone outside and reserved our spot for the second night.

So if you plan to go and want full hookups call
1-800-449-2288

It is a nice campground and there are at least two lodges near the Far View information Center. For family special times, try booking an evening tour. They are limited to 20 people tops and are very personal and enjoyable.
