Minneapolis, MN campround recomendation????

I ask you folks for a campground near Deland, FL and you suggested Blue Springs which worked out great for me and I thank you.

In a few weeks I head to the Minneapolis, MN area. Do you all have any suggestions for a good campground in that area?

Thanks,

Ray

William O'brien is nice, I'm told interstate is even better. The state parks aren't cheap, though.

Hello Ray,

Actually you have a number of options depending on which part of the Twin Cities metro you plan to spend most of your time at. Check out Three Rivers Park District : Baker Park Reserve Three Rivers is the regional county park system which are excellent for camping and various activities for recreation. Baker Park reserve is west towards Delano, Independence MN but there are campgrounds throughout the Three Rivers system. William O' Brian is a nice and large state park on the east side of the metro along the St. Croix river which is a national scenic water way. Afton Alps State Park east of St. Paul is another you may wish to check out.

Really there are numerous options depending on how much time you have and what you would like to do while there.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Dakota.

I am going to there on business so all I really need is a good place to park the camper that has electric and bathrooms/showers.

I have found that I can camp for a week on the price of a good hotel for a night in most places. That allows me to put more money in my pocket when I go on these business trips.

That's awesome! You probably know then what a great park system it is. Interstate state park is nice. Ithink it was Interstate or another state park along the St. Croix where we would rent a canoe and paddle 20 miles south to William O'Brian where the shuttle would pick us up. The St. Croix is beautiful!

Hey Ray,

At least you can check out the private parks, Three Rivers Park and state park system around the metro to see about hook ups, rates for your needs.

Good luck and enjoy your stay!

Yep, that's interstate. I wanted to kayak when we were there, but the water temp was 60, and it was MOVING in the spring.

Moose Lake SP is nice, but that's almost to Duluth. When I stayed there in July 2012, the fragrance from the flowers was heavenly... very nice for open window sleeping.

Ray,

I would look carefully at where in the Minneapolis area you will be working and then see how far the camping area is from there.

It would not be nice to face rush hour traffic, pay parking fees, and deal with more traffic at the end of the day.

If you are in construction maybe you would be in the burbs and not have parking troubles.

Before retiring, the long drive and traffic of the Cities made a terrible day trip for a two hour meeting. We hated it.

Hope all works out for you.

We have stayed at the KOA in Shakopee (SW suburb of Minneapolis). It was OK for us!
