My first time out

I went to visit my kids today, the first trip out since I bought the Scamp. I waffled about taking the tt until it was getting dark, then decided that if I could get the thing hitched up by my self I would go for it. I had purchased those yellow tennis balls on a stick thingies and so placed one behind the ball and the other behind the coupler. It worked well enough. 5 or 6 times jockying and i had the ball in the right place. Lowered the jack... and it wouldn't go up in the socket!

Bounced on it, pushed the truck, fiddled and messed around, and then it started dropping onto the ball. SUCCESS! So now I was committed. It was 11:00 pm when I got on the road so I called mom (82 and loves to talk) and we yakked for the whole 2.5 hour trip. :

Got home tonight just after dark and had to back it in.

5 or 6 times jockeying...

I do a lot of jockeying!

Congratulations, John! I bet it was great having the scamp with you, wasn't it! I know we still do a lot of jockeying, too, but it gets better every time. I think I dread it more than I need to.

Nothing at all wrong with a little jockeying and congratulations on getting the first trip under your belt. What part of NC is home? We're a few miles west of Tarboro. There's another thread on this forum about a late October trip to Ocracoke. That would be a good second (or third or ???) trip if you could join us.

We all become experienced jockeys after awhile, glad it was nice.
