On another website, someone struck up a conversation with me. He noticed that we had a lot in common, old cars, old houses, old furniture, and before too long we became old friends.

He lives in Phoenix, and shared that his classic car club was returning to Bisbee this year to a weekend get-away at The Shady Dell

I read about The Shady Dell in Ready to Roll, a book with photography by Douglas Keister. I live near one landmark in the book: Simpson's Nursery, and have visited that to see its car and trailer collections. Gary invited me to join the club for the weekend.

He drives a VW Beetle Convertible, similar to one I used to own.

Beside the old trailers available there, The Shady Dell has 6 spaces available if you have your own trailer or motorhome. About half of the group stayed in the Shady Dell's trailers, and the other half brought their own RV's.

This photo taken from beside the VW in the previous shot shows one of the largest (Airfloat) and the smallest (Home Made) trailers in the park.

It is different, being Gold instead of Silver...

One of the club member's "Arizona Historical Vehicle" plated cars. I remember riding in one of these as a kid!

Dot's Diner
It was closed on Saturday, the cook had business to attend to elsewhere. As an alternative, we went to The Bisbee Breakfast Club. I highly recommend it.

I had to add this, an attraction in town. He "parades" his pets riding each other up and down the sidewalks.
