Nagagamisis Provincial Park Canada

Has anyone stayed at Nagagamisis Provincial Park in Ontario Canada? We're planning a trip this upcoming summer to Ontario. We've stayed at some Provincial Parks in the past, but haven't gone as far north as Nagagamisis.

Does anyone have an experience with this park they'd care to share?

I don't nag my wife, so I would certainly never nag a gamisis. What's a gamisis anyway?

Actually I would also be interested to see some responses from people who've been there. Back in the early '70s my dad took me on maybe 3 pike fishing trips to some lake up there along that highway, quite possibly to that lake (but I can't be sure any more, too long ago). We used to boondock right next to the boat launch or else across the highway in an open area. There was no provincial park back then. My, I wonder if I would even recognize the place anymore. Hope I can drive along through there sometime again; I enjoy seeing the lakes nestled in the forest, so wild but peaceful looking.

We just came back from our trip to Canada. I really like Nagagamisis PP. We got in some canoeing. Also stayed at Obatanga (twice), Fushimi Lake and The Shoals. The weather wasn't in our favor, lots of rain, but there were opportunities to canoe and even catch fish.

We first stayed at Foley Creek National Forest Campground just north of the Mackinac Bridge. We just did an overnighter, but I would be interested in going back for a longer stay.

We then went to Obatanga PP. We had been there about three years ago and just loved it. We were planning an overnight stay at an interior campground off Gina Lake, but the weather was iffy, so we just canoed Gina Lake and Burnfield Lake (where the campground is located). Fished some, caught a Walleye and several pike. Pike went back in the lake, Walleye was dinner one night.

Then it was on to Nagagamisis, where we canoed and fished. Didn't catch anything on Park Lake, but had a great time out on the water. Another provincial park I would definitely return to.

And finally we went to Fushimi Lake PP, The Shoals and on home, stopping at Canoe Harbor National Forest Campground near Grayling, MI to get in a bit of flyfishing before heading home.

Nagagamisis is a Cree word meaning "lake with fine sandy shores"
Its been many years since I was there and as I recall it did indeed have a very nice lake.

Nice pictures, thanks for the report. How were the biting bugs, not too bad I hope?

Some mosquitos at The Shoals, but it was also rainy when we were there so that was to be expected, although they weren't too bad at all. Otherwise, absolutely no problems with bugs.
