NC to WA

I will be doing a PCS move from NC to WA. My stuff will be shipped separately so I will have my truck, the Scamp 19, my wife, my 11 year old boy, my 6 year old boy, 1 8 year old chocolate lab, and one 8 month old malinois. The dogs are good travelers, we are on the go quite a bit so they quiet down on the road.

The only 100% place we are going is to visit my wife's sister in Springfield, MO. Other than that the route we take is up in the air. We have done cross country moves 3+ times but we usually just take the most direct route and don't sight see too much. Anyone taken a similar journey, or planning to, and have some must sees or recommendations?

They make apps for this Try Roadtrippers. It will show all kinds of information you need including the local attractions and natural wonders along the way. You can use it along with google earth to check out what is on the routes you are considering. Google earth gives you terrain with some pins for special features and also tourist put photos on google earth so you can check out what they saw while in that spot.

Been from Wa. to Va. on I 70, 80 and 90. I 90 follows a lot of the Lewis and Clark route which starts near your SIL home. Things to see on that route. Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Geographical center of the US, Badlands, Wall Drug, Custer's last stand, and Yellowstone. Several markers of the Lewis & Clark expo. on that route. If I went again I would read up on L&C and check out sights on their route.

Good chance to visit CO, then Utah, and then north through ID and OR. If you have enough time, a side trip up to Yellowstone, then continue up to Montana, through northern ID, and into WA state. We have done both several times.

Since you are going through Springfield, MO, I'd continue on I-70 through Colorado.
