We look to depart So Cal late April and explore Eastern Nevada, Stop at Red Rock Canyon <BLM> near Las Vegas. Then head to Cathedral Gorge State Park.
In Idaho we are looking at Nat Soo Pah Hot Springs near Hollister then head west to visit our son in North Powder Or.
All three look really cool on the Internet. Any experience out there on this subject or about US 93 in Nevada.

What are you into doing? Scenery or tourist activities? April might still be cool enough to cruse up through Death Valley and see quite a bit of historical significance. Tons of old ghost towns/mining towns etc. Hwy 93 I don't have experience with. I either head north on the 15 through Utah or if I go up through Nevada I cut off on 318 (a shortcut saves 50 mi) and bypass Pioche, etc, sorry. I have heard it is a nice trip, it's just too hot to dilly dally when I go through every summer.
Valley of Fire is one of our favorite Nevada state parks. Also near Las Vegas is the Lake Mead National Recreation Area with some nice campgrounds and lots to explore.
We will wander north from Las Vegas. Every Nevada state park I have seen have been great, Cathedral Gorge looks really cool . I will have to Google Valley of Fire.
