Newark Delaware Camping?

Greetings: We need campground help! We are 13' Scamp owners. Our first grandchild is due in mid-February in Newark, Delaware. We are planning to be there around that time and are considering taking our trailer for accommodations for us. On this trip, we are not interested in the camping experience; only the proximity to Newark and the projected driving time to and from. We need electric hook up and bathroom facilities. Do any of you who are familiar with the Newark Delaware area have any suggestions for camping around there?

Get a campground directory and start a search. Google campgrounds in Delaware and see what you can find. February is off season and many might be closed. Good luck.

You can check with a state parks office to get someone who knows which state campgrounds are open in that area all year, which have any electrical hookups, and what else they have for winter use. You can find it online probably with enough looking but would have to call to confirm.

Both Elk Neck State park in Maryland and Lums State park in Delaware are normally open year round and are very close to Newark. They both have showers and electrical hook ups. However both have renovation projects scheduled for this winter so you'll have to call. Raz

Lums Pond is fun! I grew up in Wilmington and went to college in Newark...enjoy a stop at the Deerpark Tavern while you are there.. When I was at the U of De, it was rumored that Poe had once spent the night there...we all had their mugs with the Raven!

On another note, you share a bday with my brother; what are the odds??

Thanks of the responses. Lums Pond looks to be the closest so far at 11miles so we will check it out. Google says the driving time is a half hour which seems long. I guess the Newark area is a bit more populated than out here on the shores of Lake Superior. We are still open to suggestions.
