I'll be driving south to Eureka, CA. next week and one possibility is camping about a day's drive from Seattle. Any good suggestions for campgrounds? Preferably dog-friendly and with good campsites easy to back into as it would be my first trip. It would be mid-week.

You will have about a 100 to choose from.

Pick any... yes, they are ALL good.. some are just gooder than others.

From Seattle, you could safely make it to Beverly Beach. I enjoy it, but I enjoy all Oregon State parks on the beach.

The only problem with Beverly Beach State Park right now is that there is a bridge under construction on Hwy. 101 right at the entrance to the park and I think it is probably very noisy and generally annoying during the day.
South Beach State Park on the south side of the Yaquina Bay Bridge might be a better choice, but reservations are necessary at either park as the full signs are out most of the time.

Well, at this point I think I'm going to play it by ear... start driving Thursday morning and stay wherever I am if I don't make it to Arcata by evening. I might go to Vancouver, WA on Wed. night if I'm ready to move by then. Things are a little bit crazy here so it isn't easy to plan or get ready to go.
