North 340 VA & Lehigh Gorge PA

Gail & I took the red eye out of Albany Friday morning down to Raleigh/Durham, getting in a bit late, around 12:45. We had to wait a while for a bus to get to long term parking and get my F150, but sometime after 2 we headed for Gibsonville to get our ParkLiner.

Our first order of business was lunch. If you're ever in Durham, give this place a try, it was great: Serena Sicilian Influenced Gastropub -

By the time we had lunch, it was 2:30, and Gibsonville was an hour away. We got there around 3:30 to a mostly vacant plant, called the owner who went through what had been done (or not), and off we went to North 340 in Waynesboro NC, right in the middle of the Shenandoah Mountains. We got there about 8 p.m., just bushed. The campsite was nice, if a little crowded. We're in the middle in this picture:

We were lucky, our neighbors were friendly, both pretty much local folks.

The sites were kinda cool, as they each had a concrete pad!

Unfortunately we could not hook to wastewater because some previous user had got their orange adapter stuck in the pipe, and we couldn't get it out, and couldn't use it either. No biggie, as the next place would have a wastewater hookup. We very much liked the restrooms here, very clean and nice.

First thing in the morning we hitched up and headed for Lehigh Gorge, about 20 miles southwest of Scranton PA. We had a pull through site, and had great service hookups, so that was nice.

Bathroom and showers here were not as nice as North 340.

Saturday night we had a great dinner at the Powerhouse Eatery: Powerhouse Eatery

Sunday morning we had an okay breakfast at the White Haven Family Diner (no web page I could find).

That's about it. We got home about 2 Sunday, and the first thing I did was take a nap!
