ok,,,next trip.

saturday i will head north to onaway michigan. i will rustic camp on the black river. the sturgeon that live in black lake are spawning, and volunteers camp along the river to protect them from poachers.
hopefully i will help the dnr capture and tag some fish, or maybe gather some fry to rear in the hatchery to help with survival rates.
should be a fun week of living in the woods , and working to give back to michigan something of the 61 years i have spent enjoying this great state.
should get some fishing in for some walleye , maybe some trout, or perch too. have my campfire waffle iron packed, my pie iron, and am thinking i might just get one of those fish baskets they use for cooking fish over a campfire,,,,just in case i accidently find a fish that really really needs to be cooked.

its organised by "sturgeon for tommorrow" a group thats dedicated to,,,well,,,sturgeon,,,for tommorrow. (go figure huh?)
we work with the dnr and even the local utility company, they built a beautiful sturgeon rearing facility that allows us to capture young fry and give them a much better survival rate then they get in the wild.

every state has some sort of program to help wildlife of one sort or another. its fun, worthwhile, and a pretty good excuse to go camping and cook a lot of great food and eat and take lots of naps.

A hatchery job for an egg man. Good combination. The pie iron is making me hungry!
