Places to Stay Overnight on Del-Mar Peninsula

I am looking for places to spend the night on the Del-Mar peninsula close to Wilmington, DE and also Norfolk, VA. I am interested in just a quick overnight layover so campgrounds, Walmart, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lums Pond State Park in Bear Delaware is just off Delaware 1. Pricey but has Full hook ups.

Kiptopeke State Park north of the bridge tunnel on route 13 or First Landing State park in Virginia Beach. Virginia state parks are also pricey especially with the added dog fee.

Northwest River Park and Campground in Chesapeake is one of our favorites enroute to the Outer Banks but might be too far afield from Norfolk.

walmarts, lowes, homedepot, crackerbarell use your imagination rest areas in that area might be tough but if trucks are there might be ok.

I was hoping to get places like Walmarts, lowes, etc where people had actually stayed. I'm a little concerned about making sure I don't blunder into a place that is known to not be safe.

You did say campgrounds. Right before the bridge tunnel is a rest area on the left heading south. Never stayed there. Overnight was allowed last time we stopped.
