PNW 2.0

Last year we set out to explore the pacific northwest only to change direction due to the terrible wild fires. This year we tried again and were successful. We travelled from Vermont through Ontario to the U.P. of Michigan. Lots of Forest Service campgrounds. (Do try the Pasties (short A), a local meat pie. They are very good.)

We travelled west following routes 2 and I94. Our first destination was Theodore Roosevelt National park.

Next came Glacier National Park and the Going to the Sun highway. We stayed two nights in the Two Medicine campground which is perhaps the easiest in the park to get a site.

We spent a night in Idaho then got on route 20 in Newport, Washington. We followed it to route 101 on the Olympic peninsula after a night in North Cascade National Park and ride on the Coupeville ferry.

On to see the big trees at Redwood National park. Jenny and a bigger tree. It's hard not to be moved by something that has lived 1500 years

Heading home we stopped at the Craters of the Moon in Idaho, and passed through both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National parks. Eight thousand miles, thirty days, our longest trip ever. Raz

Beautiful! Lots of driving, but what a great trip. Thanks for taking the time to report and post the pics. We fully intend to go back to the PNW one day soon...

Those are some great pictures, thanks for sharing. Can't wait until we retire and can take trips like this.
