Skidaway Island State Park, GA

2nd camping trip with the little Egg-Go. Went to Skidaway Island State Park, near Savannah, GA. Awesome park. Shaded lots, fire rings with grills, (cooking & campfire), clean bathrooms, paved interior roads. Geocaching, biking, hikes, pet friendly, affordable. Tybee Island, Inter-coastal waterway, kayaking, downtown Savannah, shopping, all close by. Egg-Go new bed was awesome!! Each trip we are slowly omitting "no-needs". We may have figured out the hitch clunking noise. (it's from the "slop" from the reese hitch) we got a tightening hitch pin & resulted to the "end-all, cure all" duct tape. A few winds around the hitch will shim it up. With only 4 weeks till we head out west, one more road trip & it'll do. One great idea we did come up with, is a set-up box. Plastic tub that holds, wheel chocks, jack stands, electrical plug, hoses, outside door mat, flashlight, etc. It stores inside we grab the box & it takes about 15 mins to set up & break down.

We enjoyed this park too. We stayed here one night on our shake down return trip from NC after picking up our trailer. It was a really nice place. We were running behind schedule on the road trip, and I called them to let them know we would had an after hours arrival... and it blew me away that the park ranger said he'd stay and wait for us. Now it was only 5-10 after close, but still, it was nice to be received at arrival. We'd definitely go back to stay and explore the area longer.

Got back from our week of beaches....Hilton Head (horrible), Myrtle Beach & Tybee Island. We were actually turned down at a park because our camper was too small and did not have a "flushing toilet", we had called to see if there was availability, but when we go there no room at the inn. The campground manager referred us to another campground, which was the equal to a Bates Motel, we should have just stayed at truck stop. Hilton Head wasn't really camper friendly, lesson learned. Drove thru Charleston & followed the coast. Myrtle Beach on the other hand, was awesome! Stayed at the Apache, older campground directly on the beach, private pier, planned activities, fun time, very tight quarters though. Tybee Island was a great time. We witnessed the Georgia Coast Guard rescue an 11 year old kayaker, they did such a amazing job. Our little camper was selected by a free-lance photographer for a photo shoot....how fun! Each trip becomes a little easier, more relaxing.

Been there, liked it. Georgia has some nice state parks, however you can't find them on Reserve America. They have their own state reservation system ( Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites ). Myrtle Beach is nice, except for the airport. But if you're lucky enough to score a site at Huntington Beach SP, just down the road, it's a bit nicer.
