We're excited!

Thought our annual June beach trip was off this year due to a planned family gathering on the East Coast (minus the trailer), but when that was postponed until the fall, we immediately got online and booked four nights at Carlsbad. June was (of course) completely full, but plenty of sites available the last week of May. Grateful for the flexibility homeschooling gives us!

Enjoying our visit to SCSB. Definitely quieter in May than June, and cleaner bathrooms. Last night was chilly, so we let go of the campfire in favor of a movie night in the Scamp. Fun!

Sadly, the VW Camper left after one night, replaced by a mammoth, view-blocking motorhome.

Glad you got a site it can be very tough at times. Good to get the desert dust out of your system. Koing to kingman this weekend traveling the opposite way.

I love the Carlsbad Beach State Park campground. We have a good friend that lives in Carlsbad and have never had the opportunity to camp there ourselves but it is on my bucket list!!! Have fun. More photos please!

Didn't seem to be a problem before Memorial Day. We made our reservations a month out and there were plenty of sites on weekdays. After Memorial Day, different story.

Safe travels, Steve! Wind made for slow going on Monday headed west.

The campground lies on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Oceanview sites are $50 (no hookups) and $75 (full hookups, few). "Inland" sites are just a few steps across the access road at $35/$60.

We like to have a site near one of several stairways that access the beach. I appreciate not having to cross a long stretch of soft sand to walk along the surf line

There is a ramp next to site 179.

The best and most popular swimming beach is 2-3 miles north near downtown Carlsbad. Bike lanes everywhere.

Only one other molded fiberglass towable in residence, a Casita 17 pulled by a silver 4Runner, also from AZ.

But the most interesting sighting was a small motorhome on a Land Rover Defender(?) chassis.

Cool! Wish I could have seen inside, but the owner was away, or perhaps a late sleeper.
