Tips for off-season camping on BC coast?

We are returning from our BC to NS (and back) trip and I am already wanting to plan some fall camping in BC.

Ideally I want to find spots for a 13 ft Outback, on the BC coast (for the view), off-season. I tend to prefer provincial parks for their privacy and beauty but anything will do. Knowing if there are facilities (water, toilets, showers, etc) off season is key.

Any tips, experiences?

Thank you!

I don't have any tips for camping, but to remind you to bring plenty of warm clothes and waterproof helps too! You're going to find plenty of cold, wet wind along the Pacific ocean in the winter.

Hi Donna

We have the furnace so we should be ok. I'm more looking for campsite ideas for off-season.

I'm thinking Porteau Cove may be a good spot.

Not sure if you are thinking of visiting Vancouver Island but we enjoyed Alder Bay Campsite up around Telegraph Cove.
Green Point National Park in Tofino is spectacular!

hth!

Thanks for the tip. We do enjoy our visits to Van Island however the ferry is expensive so we typically do longer stays to justify it. Miracle Beach is a great spot (though no view of the ocean from the sites).

Hi Paul,
We've been using the BC Parks website. It has all the information on when winter season starts in each of the parks, you just have to poke around a bit to find it. It seems to me that once winter season starts the water is turned off.
Porteau cove would be one of the closest to you, and it's lovely there on the water. The next closest would be Golden Ears. I've camped at Cultus Lake over Thanksgiving and it was gorgeous with the fall colours.
Best wishes,
Phil
