Traveling with pets

Hi all,

This was interesting, DW is always clamoring for us to transition to (pseudo? = 9 months at a time) full timing: (full link below).

A key reason people choose RV Travel: To Take their Pets - Roadtreking : The RV Lifestyle Bloghttp://

Clearly we travel at the moment with only one furry family member. A screen house may allow 2? Hmmm so many to rescue and provide a forever home.

A blast from last December during our 2015-2016 winter escape from Michigan.

Yes we did spend some time in the Florida Keys after Jekyll Island, but no more than a week at this KOA. For the price of staying the full 6 weeks we could have nearly bought a second Scamp. One for Esmé as well?

As posted elsewhere we did spend March not in our Scamp but staying with friends and colleagues in Clearwater Fl, and working on bats in Florida.
Modest $ but while it was intermittently cool there it did not compare with the OMG temps of Michigan.

Fast Forward...
I am now working on our next winter trip now as experience has proven state and National parks fill rapidly well in advance. No longer rank green newbies, but still on the learning we are up for longer trips. Alaska was mentioned last year as a FGT caravan trip. Kinda on our bucket list. We are ready to consider others if they are in the correct time frame.

While such planning ahead kinda kills the spontaneous nature of Scamping we realize when given a choice between an $80+ KOA knee deep in people, Harleys grumbling about, boom boxes etc. where you cannot open ones trailer door w/out hitting Mega rig next to you vs. <$40 in a spacious state or national parks it's kinda like Duh... No Brianer we get it now.

So plan ahead for long stop overs for weeks at a time yet remain spontaneous for a few days at a time. The Corps of Engineers park we stumbled into on during our return to Mich. turned out to be a WOW and stayed 3 nights instead of one.

A rough plan is to make it to Portland for the late January dog training workshop for DW. No details yet other than first stop is
Huntington Beach State Park in S.C. to meet up with long time friends we met when we lived and worked in Belize for 25 years. We will leave Mich. in November and have loads of time before we need to be in Portland by the end of January 25th 2017.

And the scary thought of absolutely nothing planned or considered yet other that something in the SW(below the freeze belt) until we can safely return to Mich the first week of April 2017. Options! WOW nearly sensory overload of possibilities.

Any suggestions, meet ups etc. welcomed. So far we have met Byron and Anne, Norm and Ginny, Bob & Mary and Hal and Dorthy.

Cheers,

Bat Dude
