Trip to Nashville in April - recommendations on places to camp
I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip to the Nashville area in April. I'll be travelling from central NY and am looking for parks and other places to stay on the way and near Nashville that offer good canoeing/bike riding or hiking.
Any recommendations are appreciated. I'll be travelling for three weeks and would like to find several places where I can spend 3-5 days exploring before moving on to the next stop.

Hard to go wrong with Fall Creek Falls and Rock Island. Both within 2 hours of Nashville.
Lots of activities, hiking, fishing, boating, biking, etc.
The best two state parks in Tennessee in my opinion.

Our very favorite campground is Defeated Creek campground, in Carthage TN, about 2 hours west of Nashville.
It is a corp of engineers campground, on Cordell Hull lake, with many waterfront sites. Big level sites.
And we also like Henry Horton State park...doesn't hurt that it's 5 minutes from our house, in Chapel Hill TN

We spent a week in Nashville this past fall and stayed at Seven Points CG, a COE campground 15 miles from downtown. Very nice campground with water & electric hook-ups. We used the commuter train from Mount Juliet to get into town so not have to worry about parking. Lots to do in Nashville and don't forget the side trip to Lynchburg (Jack Daniels Distillery) Enjoy!

Cedars of Lebanon SP in Lebanon TN would be my choice. About 30 miles east of Nashville.

Defeated Creek Campground is NOT 2 hours West of Nashville.
Defeated Creek Campground IS about 90 MINUTES NORTHEAST of Nashville just a little outside of Carthage TN.

Correct, and I will admit to being direction-ally challenged. Thanks for catching that

If you want to be "close to the action", consider Trinity RV Park and Campground. We have stayed there several times. It's small, no amenities, but has electric, water, and septic, no cable. It is right in the middle of town with easy access, and affordable.

another state park
I like Edgar Evins State Park.
Many of the sites are decks that have great views of Center Hill Lake.
It's about 65 miles from downtown Nashville.
