Every year I trek north to the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds in Elma, Washington for a hotrod show... the Unfinished Nationals. I won't bore you with all the rusty, greasy details, but I did take a couple of pictures of molded lightweight fiberglass towables which lend themselves very well to being tugged by a hotrod.

Here's a Mity Lite pulled by a 1957 Thunderbird!

And here's a couple of Bolers.... already unhitched from their respective rods. Note the white one doesn't have any rivets... except below the window which I'm thinking is for the bunk?

And a honking huge R-Pod that is actually towed by the black Chevy stationwagon!

My Scamp was in attendance, you can see it hiding amongst the towables on steroids in one of the pictures.

I handed out several MFROG business cards. Spent most of the time, when not looking at project cars talking to W&R the owners of the Mity Lite.

Good times!

Harking back to another Mity-Lite discussion, I am getting the feeling that the boat on top might have been part of an optional fishing package. Clues being the fish in the logo (it's an angler looking fish), the fact that the boat fits on top (and there look to be little pads/and a lip for it).

That's pretty neat, if it's true.

Funny, since the usual riveted ones don't have rivets there - the bunk support is fiberglassed in.

That Boler looks pretty nice rivetless. I'm thinking that rather than replace or re-seal any rivets on mine, when the time comes, I'll just fiberglass-tab the furniture in on the inside. With the ensolite and with the fact that the tabs would be on the inside of cabinets anyway, super-perfect cosmetics would not be necessary as they won't even show. No more potential leaks, firmer structure, and sweet looking to boot

Thanks for the photos

I'm thinking those are for the gravel guard and we just can't see the upper ones.

Why? The 18' R-pod weighs 2100 pounds - childs play for a V-8 powered, full framed car.

Oh, not the weight... the size. I saw it pull into the campground. The wagon looked tiny with that trailer behind it... of course the tug is lowered. I should have taken a better picture. Sigh, next year.

Angela posted more pic's of her Mite Lite for sale, from the above angle it leads me to believe that yes these had/could have boats on top. Angela's Mite Lite for sale new pic's added

I saw that too. Even has a cleat at the back center. Not that that has to mean "boat," but they certainly are used on and around boats.

Now I want one with a boat!

There's no reason to have rivets showing on a Boler. The cupboards, seats and kitchen unit in mine, and a lot of others, are glassed into place with 6 inch wide strips of fiberglass cloth. This makes the trailer a very strong unit and removes a lot of flex in the body. The only rivets showing from the outside are to hold awning and table rails and the inset tail light assemblys and fridge vents etc.

Hi James,

I'm thinking that's what I'll probably do when it comes time to (i.e. I've never had any rivets leak yet, but when they do...).

With the tabbing going on the inside of the cabinets, plus the Ensolite there, the cosmetics won't be a big deal.

More rigid and leak-proof - what's not to like

Donna, Awesome you found another Mity Lite. Now there are 4 that I know of. Angela's, Gary's, Mine, and the one you found. Mine done not look like it had a boat on it. The documentation that I have of it (1 page) does not show a boat as an option. Mine is the Spacemaster not the Take 5 model. Mine has a top vent about the stove area. It does not have a back window like the others I have now seen. But mine does come with all the other options like fridge, heater, sink, closet.

It does not have the pads like Angela's does either.

I almost bought an RPOD. I had an order in for one and cancelled the week before delivery because of money issues. I found the Spacemaster just days after cancelling the order. I would still like to get one in the future, but so far liking my spacemaster. So since I didn't spend too much for the little Spacemaster I am real happy and don't have to worry about a larger more expensive RV for now. I hope to keep it for quite awhile.

I have 4 total so far getting together for the South Lake Tahoe get together. Hopefully more will join by next weekend.

Thx.
