I took an extra day off (Monday after Cambria, 22nd) so I would not have to rush back across LA on a sunday nite tugging a trailer with all the other insane folks. Gonna do a "liesurely" trip back.

I am headed sideways, over the 46 to the 99 and on to Col. Allemsworth State Historic park. Its about 30 miles north of Bakersfield.. near Delano

Tho I never retain any of the knowledge, I am very fascinated by history and old buildings. This place was biult in the early 1900s and most of it remains now. It is virtually out in the middle of nowhere.. somewhere between I-5 and The 99, right schmack dab in the middle of the San Joaquin valley. Not a place one thinks of to camp.. and I certainly wouldn't if it were any later in the year.

I briefly drove thru there as a side trip on my way to somewhere else a few months ago. Did not get to go thru any of the buildings, but I did check out the campground. It is reasonable and pleasant, no hook ups, but each site has a large "cabana" to shade the area and the sites are spread out and nicely grassed. Flush toilets are available. Good for a stop over, a little walk thru the town and a little education too! It has an outstanding longview of the sierras.. as a tease!

This will be Sunday.. monday, it's off and back home at a liesurely pace over Tehachapi (I can't STAND the Grapevine!)

Anyone that wants to join me on thier trek home, please feel free!
