2 Days until my adventure begins-full time in my Casita.

It's been a great first year since I retired, and moved to Fairplay, CO, to live in the mountains and start my new life. I've loved living here in the shadow of the Mosquito Range. The winter was very brutal here, with blowing snow and cold winds for 7-8 months. I am going on a journey in my little Casita 13' Patriot in 2 days. My household belongs are packed and ready to go into storage. And my camper is loaded except for some food items...I purged and purged this winter, and am only taking the minimum of what I need to live on the road. Maybe in the next few months I can upgrade to a bigger rig...it will absolutely be fiberglass.
I will leave here and head south and west to the Buena Vista and Salida, CO area for a week before I head down the hill to Denver area to spend my birthday with my kids, then onto Kansas to stay for a couple of months with my Mom & Dad and 2 sisters and their families. We plan to go camping and fishing while I'm there, then head back to Denver area to spend the holidays, then I'm off to the southwest to California for the winter.
I am excited and ready for this adventure....have been planning this trip for many months now. I have a blog I will post in when I have internet access, and post pictures along the way. I love nature and all that she provides. You can follow me here:

Diane,

We wish you well as your adventure begins. Take your time, go slow and find wonder. There is wonder everywhere.

We have now spent a week in Welcome Station, NV, a truly isolated place 45 miles west of Elko, NV. Every day we explore something new, finding that that we could spend a month here and still not finish.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your travels and wish you the very best.

Happy travels, Diane. I have relatives in the Fairplay area. We were there last year and it's beautiful country.
Take care,

Diane

Just signed onto your blog to follow you and your adventures. Wishing you a great many wonderful moments, no major problems and a memorable journey!

As a retired single myself, with a similar dream, I will follow yours with great attention. I am tentatively planning on taking an extended trip leaving in May of 2013 with the intent of going to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. I have a 17 ft Casita Spirit Deluxe.

As your trip gets close to CA..I live in Los Angeles, but am pretty familiar with all of So Cal, let me know and if you need help or advice on places to stay, info on places, etc. I'd be happy to get the inside scoop for you! Perhaps we'll even run across each other by accident or by purpose!

Looking forward to reading your posts and following your adventure!
Karen

After Christmas, you'll want to head south into NM before you cross the mountains. But you probably know that already.

Enjoy your nomadic adventure! The continent is your oyster. Home is wherever you park.

Enjoying your blog....will see you in the Flint Hills in a couple of weeks....am really looking forward to spending some time there. Am discovering there are quite a few neat places in Kansas. Spent several days the end of May in Lindsborg exploring that area, my niece took me to Yoder to a wonderful Amish resturant. Imogene (Imo.) Keep enjoying life.
