If you are willing to boondock, there are many BLM campgrounds that are $180 for 7 months. Most in the southwest. Check out Holtville Hot Springs. YES, there are hot springs!! They are within walking distance of the Long Term Visitor area.

BLM Hot Spring Long Term Visitor Area

There are dumpsters as well and limited shopping within 6 mi. and a Walmart within 20 mi.

Love Hot Springs

Thanks Monica, We love hot springs. It's really nice of you to share, an inexpensive and unique place.

Flash mob Egg Rally Franklin, NC

Well ok it is only two of us.We like to think big,um outside of course.Too much thinking in an egg can get crowded. We landed in Franklin North Carolina. Small campground two blocks off main street. 11 sites FHU $150/Week $450/Month. Downtownrv.com It is our first night here, me in my Casita, my mom next door in her Parkliner. Tons of hiking and waterfalls. Still quiet here, the season starts May 1. Keep the shiny side up.

We just spent a delightful winter in Why, AZ. Coyote Howls campgrounds. $220/month for full hookups. South of Ajo and north of Organ Pipe NM. The Sonoran desert really put on a show for us this winter.

One suggestion for posters - please include specific geographic locations including state name and eliminate abbreviations. I've travelled very little in the southwest United States (or either Pacific or Atlantic coasts for that matter) and I am not familiar with most places mentioned without more specific information, so more specific geographic information helps out when reading about these places. For instance, in the above post about Holtville Hot Springs, I was assuming somewhere in Arizona, but if poster had mentioned "about 20 miles west of Yuma, Arizona" then I can form a mental picture. Just my suggestion.

Mark, Always happy to get suggestions. I added near Yuma to that line and will try to do the same for others.. If you got to the link at the end of the Holtville line it gives travel info.

Thanks again.

Janes Island State Park Maryland

This park is very nice, right beside the Chesapeake Bay. It's a wonder full park with most of the sites having electricity. One neat factor is that MD offers a senior pass to all holders of a federal senior pass for a one time charge of $10. The camping fee here with electricity for tonight is $14 plus tax. The pass is good at all MD parks.

There are 3 Scamps in the park tonight, almost a rally. I'll add the park to our list of campgrounds.

Norm; what route did you use to get there, and what route are you taking from there back to NH?

We're heading up to Princeton, NJ for the weekend to see our granddaughter, she's at the University there and than off to CT to see my favorite niece and her family for 2-3 days before returning to NH.

We crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, basically following Route 17 up the coast from SC following 13 up from the bridge to I-95 thru NJ.

We have a long history with the Delmarva Peninsula, on our very first trip South we came thru here. Our family thought we were lost or losing it spending so much time in this area but our method of travel is a wandering sometimes. I think we've stayed in every state park over our 15 years in VA, MD and DE on the DelMarVa. a nice area with lots of small towns.

The more we travel the more I realize we're different. The two other Scamps in our park, I think, found our travels a little strange.

Is that the bay bridge / tunnels or a different bridge. We have done the bridge / tunnel route a few times. Don't much care for the Jersey Turnpike though.

Ginny woke up this morning to say "Scamps rule", I guess because we have the majority in this lightly populated camp ground.

Mary and Bob, It is the Bay Bridge tunnels, some 20 miles long with light traffic.

We dislike the NJ Turnpike as well but it's about the only way. We get off at the intersection with the Garden State and take that to the Tappen Zee. Initially the Garden State feels like the NJ Turnpike but as you get a little out it calms down while the NJ just gets worse.
