I lived in a regular travel trailer for 2 or was it 3? winters. It was a 1970 something Kit Companion. I would think that the same things would need to be done to a fiberglass trailer.

I had heat tape and insulation around the water hose. I knew to keep the water dripping. I did not know that the holding tank valve should be kept closed so I had it open. I was in a trailer park with full hookups.

I had plywood skirting.

I blocked half the windows with fiberglass batting.

I had a locker rented for frozen food elsewhere because the refrigerator would not work once the weather got into the 20s. I used a cooler, kept outside for a fridge.

The propane furnace refused to work. I had a space heater in the front of the trailer and one in the back of the trailer in the bathroom. Even with heat, it was freezing at the feet and quite warm at head level.

I would wake up sometimes to find frost on the inside of the walls. Cooking anything that needed simmering was out of the question due to condensation. I had no exhaust fan.

I had mold damage to a sleeping bag that I had kept hanging in a closet.

Luckily, the winters were balmy for the Methow Valley during those years. I think it only got down to +3. I finally found a house to rent, and it was a good thing because the next few winters were normal with below zero temps.

Okay, I'm in no hurry to sell it, and if I can't get what I'm asking I'll keep it. I don't care a thing about the year of it, it looks brand new and does what I want to do when I want to. You can holler back, I go all over usually travel every month and never know what part of the world I'll be

The Scamp with the wood cabinetry and trim is the Deluxe model. The Standard model (the one I'm getting) does not have this gingerbread. It is also about $3,000 cheaper than the Deluxe, I was told by the manufacturer. Where in NJ do you live? My Scamp is to be delivered the first week of May. I live in Paramus,Bergen County. You're welcome to come look at . Just send me a PM.

I try and keep to warmer temps, but I have spent one night here and there boondocking in +18 degree weather. My 16' scamp did fine. The water did freeze but damaged nothing, I did have ice hanging out of my faucet though. I have never stayed in cold temps for long.

My advice, whatever you choose, if you have electric hook ups, save money on propane by using an electric heater. I just can't see spending all that money on propane when you can buy and electric heater for $25.

Okay, I'm in no hurry. I'm still improving things as I go. I got the Hott Rod installed, I'm going to install the wiring kit to have the switch on the inside. I'm thinking about adding another water tank to double the amount of water I can carry, but that would only be needed if I'm not where there's a water connection anyways. The Hott Rod will keep a continuous flow of hot water no mater how long I let the water run now. (No more off, soap up, rinse, off, on,wash hair, etc) you can holler when you are ready, I'm fixin to take it to the beach next week for a couple weeks. Stay in touch!

We seek electric hookups in cold weather. We got a small electric heater for $10 at Walmart. However the only thing we use when sleeping is a twin sized electric blanket.

We find if there is no pressure on the pipes when they freeze there is enough expansion room to handle the freeze without breaking.

Like you we absolutely avoid extended periods of freezing though it happens.
