I was just wondering, is there a nation wide fishing license or something for seniors? Has anyone come up with a good solution to fishing licenses?

Nope , high hopes everywhere, but I doubt there ever will be because there is too much difference in how locals want to manage their fish and game functions, to say nothing of the high prices charged for non-res licenses in some states.

BTW, this is why many people are vulnerable to having their domicile/residence choice questioned -- The temptation is too great to retain their former home state fishing license, esp if there is a good deal for senior residents...

You’re right, I didn’t say catching.

You're supposed to catch fish? Dang. I'll have to remember that. Anyone able to speak fish for me? I've spent way too much money over the years to just drown worms.

Hmm, there's a bait store in Michigan, where they will sell leeches to you by the pound, whose motto is "Our bait is guaranteed to catch fish or die trying!".

What do you think about starting a writing campaign to each State’s tourism board. We could say something like:

“How does your state treat Seniors visiting your state and gaining a fishing license? Is your state sending a message of don’t come here to vacation and fish?”

Do we have any clout?

Mike, What do you think of this as a start?

I love to fish, but the prices some states charge for a fishing license is way beyond our peanut and hot dog budget.

Dave.

Thanks for the link. I have already down loaded the petition and sent a signed copy by e-mail to my Senator and Congressman. I also e-mailed a copy to each of my 3 sons and gave them the word. I think I will also snail mail a copy my legislators.
You should post this in general chat as well. I am not a full timer, but I am retired and an avid fisherman. Arizona got me for about $60.00 last year.
I had to eat plain hot dogs that trip instead of chili dogs.
John
