Byron, you've answered your own question because of your out of the way locations. I've known many long haul truckers back in the day and what Madjack has said was talked about by many of them....locations here and there across the country. If you want to see the other side, stop at the rest area on I5 coming into San Diego county from the north. That one is scary from who's hanging out there even during the day .

Overnight at Truck Stops

Most of them are not called "truck stops" anymore. They now market themselves as "travel centers."

That said, it's clear trucks are still their bread and butter, and it's also clear they try to keep the two separate- separate entrances, separate fueling stations, and separate parking. Signage at one near me clearly indicates RVs belong with the automobiles, not the big rigs. It has a separate fueling station for oversized RVs, a dump station, and an LP station, all on the same side as the autos.

I concur with several who have suggested finding an out-of-the-way parking spot on the auto side. It usually isn't too hard, given the small size of our rigs.

When I'm planning a trip I usually scout it out with the Next Exit App and Google Maps in satellite view. That way I can see how big a truck stop is and how much RV parking there is. I've never lacked for a parking space doing that.

:Casino's, Church Parking lots if not on there worship day, works to. that big sporting goods store on I5, just cannot remember the name has about 10 spots for RV's to park it is in the SPO lots across from Marysville.
If a Campground is complaining we do not stay in any if over $30 a night, We can occasionally handle that price but they are getting way up past that now.

I had a lot of luck finding half price camping at Passport America sites during my trip out to BC, NW coast and back in August, September. Also stayed at a couple of Walmarts.

Charley Pride

We only stay in campgrounds or dispersed camping areas. I keep hearing that Charley Pride song
"Sleeping under a table in a roadside park
A fellow could wake up dead."
And in the truck stops you have the lot lizards banging on your door and your wife might get the wrong idea. I am a pretty fair judge of truck stop hot beef sandwiches though. And cheap bananas at the Quik Stars. Who doesn't like a hot Denver Omlette and a cold glass of V-8 juice after a good night of partying?

I got locked in a department store time when I was a
kid. I was sitting on the floor reading a magazine in the sporting goods section and the next thing I knew the lights went out. It was scary for a kid. I made my way to the front door and luckily a cleaning crew was just coming in. Once was enough
